About Me

Polly put the kettle on, Polly put the kettle on, Polly put the kettle on, We’ll all have tea! (Thanks, Grandma!)

I started this blog a few years ago to help me get through a particularly horrible Masters degree. It was much easier to write about tea than to write about formative assessment in the ESL classroom – which proved to be kind of useless when I quit my teaching job two years after graduation. Teacher burnout is real, it’s life-changing, and it’s devastating. I went back to college (3rd time’s a charm, right?). I graduated and started on a new career path. I am starting to get my life back. I have free time again for the first time in 6 years. I’m reading tons and tons, and teaching myself how to play the ukulele. I hope to travel again one day, but before that happens, I need to pay off about 3 million dollars in student loans.

What I really love about tea is its ability to transport me through time and space. My posts are a little bit nostalgia, a little bit escape, a little bit meditation, a little bit self-help, and a lot of learning about new teas. I’m not a trained tea professional. I would love to do a ‘Tea Sommelier’ program someday… after the dust settles. My tea tasting reactions are straight from the gut and unpolished.

My photos and my words and opinions are my own, and I believe in sharing, but I ask that if you re-post my photos or my reviews, please give credit and link back to my blog, as I will give you credit for your amazing teas, and provide links to your site. Thank you for sharing responsibly.
After 4 wonderful years of blogging, I shut it all down in February, 2018. I can no longer keep up with posting regularly. I’m grateful to all who supported me over 4 years – readers, suppliers, vendors, and friends. I’m not accepting any more tea or partnerships, but I hope people will continue to read the posts, leave comments if you want, and follow the links to some great tea companies!

Thanks Everyone!

Polly

  1. Hi Rona.
    Thanks for connecting on Twitter.
We actually have a distributor in Toronto if you are interested.
I am no stranger to Toronto myself, having lived in K-W, London and then Downsview for 18 years.

  2. Hi there,
Hope this email finds you well.

I know you probably get a TON of emails looking for guest posting opportunities, so I’ll keep it as succinct as possible, I think you might find it interesting.
My name is Will. I work for California Tea House.
I recently stumbled across your page “Blooming Tea: Tao Tea Leaf” and would like to know if you’d be interested in mutually beneficial partnership.
Basically I’m looking for an in-content text link and I would like to know if you’d be interested in an arrangement whereby you provide text link in your existing post.
I’ll make sure the out going link is in line with your content and would be willing to pay for the editorial fee.
If this is something you’d be interested in, just let me know!
    Thanks in advance!
Will Bailey

    • Hello Will, thanks for the offer. Unfortunately, I am no longer blogging here and not updating anything here. It’s not something I can devote time to right now. I’ll have to decline for the time being. Best wishes, Rona
